A letter of welcome from Fr. Kevin Peters, Pastor of St Angela Merici Parish.
My Dear Friends in Christ,
The Church of the Immaculate Conception came into being in the year 1882 and this marked the beginning of a legacy of faith that has remained strong and constant throughout the years. That was the first of three life-changing event for the eastside Catholic community. The second life-changing event occurred just six years later with the birth of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Together, these two parish communities created a foundation of faith upon which generation after generation of Catholics could build their lives. The third life-changing event occurred just over five years ago, when the two came together and began to build the faith community now known as the parish of Saint Angela Merici. During these past five years, the dedicated members of our parish have become witnesses to our true Catholic identity which knows no boundaries, parish or otherwise, and recognizes the Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Christ, as the center of who we are and what we do. It has been clearly shown by you that Eucharist binds us together in a way that no other force on earth can.
I am pleased, privileged and blessed that God has seen fit to place me at your service as the first pastor of Saint Angela Merici parish. As you travel through the pages of this website, know that you are traveling through time as you reflect on all that was, all that is and all that is yet to be.
God bless us all as we walk together on this journey of life and faith. May the teachings and blessings of Saint Angela Merici guide us in charity, in hospitality and in resilience.
Yours Always in Christ Jesus,
Fr. Kevin Peters
Pastor, Saint Angela Merici Parish
